REPATRIATION

POSITION OF DRAPERS' ASSISTANTS. At a conference, of the representatives of master drapers of the four chief centres of the Dominion, the 'question of repatriation'of returned soldiers was considered, and the following resolution was adopted:—"The retail soft goods firms throughout the Dominion haying generally pledged themselves to reinstate former employees on their return from active service, and to give effect to the resolution of this conference that every consideration should be shown to any such who mny have been rendered less officient by reason of their war experience, recommend that in filling any Vacancies that may occur first consideration should bo given to those returned men previously employed in the trade. And further, ' thot each centre should form its own sub-committee to deal with the above matters, and that the officer in charge, of repatriation in each district be advised accordingly." •;
