Cabinet having decided to permit funds to be raised for war memorials in tha shape of returned soldiers' clubs, a meotine of the Timaru War Memorial Committee and returned soldiers last night differed on the question .whether the Soldiers' Club ami war memorial should be combined or separate schemes. 'The soldiers feared that separation would injuio the club proposal. After discussion it was decided to adopt a combined scheme, the building to bo called the S.C- War Momorial. The cost suggested is .£12,000. Tho Returned Soldiers' Association has pome hundreds in hand, and Mr. Muling, the Mayor, who presided at the meeting, promised to givo his honorarium of ,£2OO.
