A BOON TO ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS.

Adams,' Government Astronomer at Wellington, gave a lecture on Mathematical Functions." He said that ho had been led to construct the tables bv a request for help from Mr. Evan Parry, recently Government Electrical Engineer in New Zealand, who had found that the ordinary tables _ of natural logarithms wero not sufficiently minute ( for his practical use in electrical work. Mr. Parry had assured him that table 3 of that character were required by electrical engineers .generally. Mr. Powell said that the tables wero of very high value, and. Dr. Adams shouid be congratulated on his work. Mr.'s. Bruce Levy, of the Government Seed-testing Station it Levin, gave an address on the methods adopted at the station. Emphasis was laid on the gratifying fact that so much had been accomplished to raise the standard of seeds sold in New Zealand without haying to resort to compulsory seed enactments.
