RESTORED RACING DAYS

« MINISTER EXPLAINS POSITION. By Telegraph-Press Association. Christchurch, February 2.' Sir George Clifford, president of the New Zealand Racing Conference, has received the following communication from the Hon. G. W. Russell, stating-.-"That only the racing clubs racing habitually subsequent to February 1 in each racing year are affected by the restoration of tho days of ..racing for the current racing year, but that if any of these clubs do not desire to exercise- their full rights the days thus saved should be given, to one-day totnlisator clubs which during the 'first half of this racing year have been do. prived of their day." The particular clubs affected by the restoration havo been notified by the Racing Conference to submit their dates for approval. Should any of these clubs, however, not desire to exercise their right to use the days they are entitled to the days thus rendered available will be allotted as far as they go to the oneday totalisator clubs which during tho first half of the current racing rear did not hold a meeting by reason of their having been deprived of their day.
