NELSON WOOL VALUATION
V-AiNelsoji correspondent, Vriting concerning tjje" result of the Nelson wool valuation, states that the valuers and brokers seem to.be all of the same opinion that oif the whole the wool in this , district this year is somewhat lighter ' and more "tender" than usual, with frequent 'breaks," owing to the bad winter. The prices generally are about on a par with those of last year, and in some instances a little l>etter. This, of course, is always the case where flocks vary owing to change of rams, etc—that is, 'prices' fluctuate from year to year con- .. siderably with the same woolgrowers (even; when strictly, valued' to schedule) owing to the difference in the quality, of 1 the wool, caused' by breeding different- - ly and the climatic conditions. The ■ Stanley iDawns clip again, topped, the market. Their merino wool'fetched 21jd., •and fine halfbred 21d. Other lines also showed a correspondingly slight impfoveiment in p.rice.
