The large number of entries received for the forthcoming competitions to be held under the auspicos of. the Wellington Competitions Society augurs well for their The judges are well-known men; who will command the confidence of both competitors.. and the public. Toetry, _ song, music, literature, dancing, impromptu speaking and debate will provide the means of a healthy emulation that should raise the standard of airtistic taste not only in "Wellington but throughout the Dominion. As advertised, the competitions open in the Town Hall on February 13, and tho tickets issued for tho abandoned date in November will bo available.
The credit of inventing , the depth bomb and the convoy system, ivhioh led to the downfall of the submarines and the final overthrow of the Germans, is admitted by Admiral Sims, of the American Navy, to belong to the British.
