KARORI BOROUGH
MEETING OP THE COUNCIL. A meeting of the Karori Borough Council held on Tuesday was presided over by the Mayor (Mr. B. G. H. Burn). There.were present: Councillors A. Ham> ilton, W. Skegg, T. W. Lewer, J. Mackenzie, R. T. Pell, and H. E. Dryden. A letter was received from the Newjnarket Borough Council asking for support for the following resolution: "That this council, with a view to assisting Ihe United Tire Brigades' Association to achieve their object, strongly urge upon all local bodies that the Government i>e asked to provide the necessary legislation whereby the upkeep of all fire brigades lie .shared equally as between tin . Government, insarance companies, and the local bodies." It was decided to do nothing in the matter. The engineer reported that the by-laws deal in? with septic tanks had been approved by the Health Department, A resolution was passed to impose ! * penally of 10 per cent, on all unpaid rates.
