EDUCATION BOARD CONFERENCE
EARLY IN SESSION. At the meeting of the Wellington Education Board yesterday an inquiry was received from the Hawke's Bay Board as to the date.of the annual conference of boards. The chairman (Mr. Thos. Forsyth) said that he proposed that the conference should "be held during the first week in the coming session of Parliament with the idea of getting the endorsement of the Minister oJ Education, and bringing their conclusions before the leaders of the Government. He thought it wtiS time for tho boards to take decisive action in certain rpk&rds— it was the time to make a forward step. He thought the dale of the conference should bo deferred until Parliament met, in order to confront members With promises made, and in view of the comiug election, they would be in n better position to approach aspirants to Parliament, to extract promises from them, and to see that they are fulfilled in eome measure, 'Mr. Forsyth's motion that- the conference be held in tho first week of next session was agreed to without discussion.
