MEDALS AND DECORATIONS
A NEW AWARD. • The Defence Department has received advice from HiS'Excellency the Goveirnorbenoral that His Majesty the King has been pleased to approve the issue of a special decoration to all troops who were jn certain defined theatres of operations on duty with their units during the pariod August 5, 1911, till December 31, l'Jlo, both dates inclusive. The details of this awar dare published in an Army Order of December l>3, as follows:— (1) New; decoration applies, lo those who have served in .theatres"of war between August 5, 101-t, and , December 31, 1015, both dates inclusive. Those entitled to 19H Star will not bo eligible for the new; decoration. (2) Decoration will be star in bronze. (3) No clasp will be issued jvith Star. M) Ribband will be red, white, and blue, shaded and watered. (5) Provided claims approved by Army Council, Star will be granted to nil officers, warrant officers, non-commissioned officers, and men of British Dominion, Colonial, and Indian Forces, including civilians, medical practitioners, nursing sisters, nurses, and other.} employed with military hospitals, who actually served on the establishment of unit in a theatre of wna\ (6) Instructions as to submission of claims and disposal of Stars in ci~e of Dominion, Colonial, and Indian Forces will be issued fey respective Givornments The effect of this N that all Xew Zealand soldiers who took part in tho occupation of Snmon. ,on August 29, ISH, thoso who participated in Uie operations agninsb the Tinrko-Gi-fm.vn forces in E«ypt in 1315. or who took part in the operations at the Dardanelles, will be entitled to this decoration.
