At a public farewell meeting in (jisborne, at which the Salvation Army corps was in strong evidence, and at which the City Council and Methodist Church were represented, many eulogistic references were mnde* to the departing guests. "I found Mm n real man," said a councillor; of Commandant Holmes, "and what is Gisborrie's loss will be Wellington's gain." Of Mrs. Holmes, testimony was given of her ability as a platform speaker and an untiring worker. The work was not only of a spiritual nature, but of social end personal benefit.
