NEW ZEALAND FLAX
The- following is from the last availAble issue of the "Australasian" (Melbourne) :— "The Minister of Agriculture (Mr. Oman), in response to inquiries, has received a- cable message from Iveiv Zealand stating that tho amount of flax giwn artificially in that country is limited to approximately 60 acres. Noiie hae been planted during the ■ war period, despite the high prices that have been offered for Ken , Zealand ilax fibre. It is officially stated that,- in view of the very limited extent to which the ilax is artificially cultivated in New Zealand, it is unlikely that thp Victorian Miuistry will agree to assist its introduction here." .
