The Hou. Arthur Myers stated yesterday that he'had devoted much time with those concerned in obtaining further supplies of coal and adjusting quantities immediately available, so.as to arrange same to keep the more important public utilities going. As a result it is hoped to tide over the present difficulty, which has been created by the influenza epidemic and the : recent holidays. Having provided for the industries to the best advantage, action is now being taken to endeavour to improve the position of household supplies in Wellington district in particular.
