RETURNED SOLDIERS' ASSOCIATION

MEETING OF LOCAL COM- , /JIITTEB.

A meeting of the Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association was held last ■evening, Mr. J. D. Harper presiding.. ' The- chairman reported that representatives of the association been invited by the secretary of the Harbour Board to confer on the matter of the employment by the board "of returned soldiers. A conference was duly held and a very sympathetic hearing was accorded 'the association, the board being very desirous of helping the returned soldiers in every way'possible and expressing <r strong desire to do their utmost to provide positions for those' who so desired employment on the board's stalf.

It was decided to congratulate Mr. C. W. Batten, president of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association, upon his appointment as District Repatriation Officer for the Wellington district. ;
