A circular, which -has been issued to members of the Wellington District; of the Marine' Engineers' Institute, shows that at a recent meeting of that body "the very., unsatisfactory conduct of, firemen, greasers," 'and trimmers was. consider,'ed." The circular proceedsto say that it was recognised ;that the! engineer's life, under present conditions is unbearable. In the endeavour to_ bring t about a-better state of affairs tho following motion was adopted: "Engineers to be instructed proceed to sea unless,two ' watches of firemen, ■'greasers;'and trimmers; are capable of 'duty, and satisfactory arrangements'are '.'made that; the men-of the two capable watches do'the work of the incapable meni" ' ■ •'" ' . ,
