A cable message received in-Welling-ton yesterday stated that Miss Isabel (Bunty) Peat, daughter of Mrs. Peat, Oriental Bay, died on' Saturday, January 11. In February of Inst year Miss Peat's health was far from good, and her mother took her to Leura, N.S.AY., where they remained until her death. Miss Peat had many friends, not only in Wellington, but all through tho'' Nortli Island, who will ho very sorry indeed to hear tho news ..of her, death. She was for many years anardent worjeer for the St. John Ambulance Association, and since tho outbreak of war had given a great deal of time and thought to the work of the Rod Cross. 'I'lie workers associated, with her at the Star Boating- Club will always remember her as a patient and untiring worker, but indeed she was that in anything connected with patriotic work. ! Mrs. F. Samuel; who has been spending a holiday in the. north, has returned to Wellington. Mrs. Hugh Bailly, of New Plymouth, is in Wellington.' Mr., and Mrs. E. CI. Gillon, who have been tq Rotorun, have returned to Wellington. . ■ ■ Mr. and Mrs. E. A. W. Wenley, of Napier, who have been oil an extendedvisit to England, are returning to Zealand at au early-date. Mrs. Wyvcrn Moore, of the V.A.D., who lias given lier time and assistance at the Convalescent Home, Wanganui, since ■it was opened .last September, is, leaving; the institution upon the return of her bus-., band in about a. fortnight's time. The matron, staff, and soldiers all speak, in terms' of the highest, praise of Mrs.\| Moore's kindly disposition and her nnr failing courtesy in attending to require-, nients of the returned soldiers. Mr. Webb was formerly organist at Knox ' Church, Masterton, and is 'iiovr examiner for the London College 'of Music. ■ • At Government House, Suva, Fiji, recently, Mrs. Eyre Hutson, wife of the Governor of British Honduras, and until recently Colonial Secretary in Fiji was presented with a cheque for £120, in lieu of a. purse of sovereigns, by the women of Fiji, »i appreciation ot her services for the Red Cross. Mrs. Hutson was the president of the local branch, and no woman worked harder than she did in the cause., ■ She was responsible for the initiation and organisation of the work generally. This year a fresh record was put up for the colony, and the total given amounts to £22,000. Last year the figure was £15,600. ■ • . . Mrs. H. The only exceptions are prematures weighing, under . 51b." The results so far are most satisfactory. Babies, are. being weighed before and after nursing .in all' cases' whero there is any. doubt', as to the sufficiency' of the milk supply. Every-; thing was going well at the Babies',. Hospital, Earl's Court, and the babies progress just as well in London as they do in Dunedin., Some dotqils of tho work were read. Tho . J. and the late I'Mr. Sydney Major Sh.aiid, of.Kiwitea,. I and formerly of Christchurch, to.Mr.' I.C. V.-'Lingard, soil of Mr.'and Mrs. Rawson Lingard, of Te Awa, Fei.lding.. Mr. Lingard served in the war with the artillery, having sailed with the tfeventh Reinforcement. He was returned invalided, as a result of an ac-. cident whilst on.duty. •
