'The first portion of the order is a reprint.of an .Imperial regulation.- An added section,' signed by the Adjutant.■■General'.of the Forces, states that "it- ' is :correct^- for' civilians (gentlemen) -to ,wear.evening dress'at'le/ees, swearing- / 'in.ceremony of a new Governor-Gene-, ■ral, at the opening of Parliament, at 'evening functions at Government House'arid evening functions which the Governor-General is known to be at- ■ tending, officially." 'A note is added ' as follows: "Wiere gentlemen are not ;in ■ possession of evening , dress, it will ibequite appropriate for morning dress .to-be .worn at. a!l functions.< such as : -tbjjse mentioned ."above, other than . evening' functions;.. This applies to , , commanders, officers; and. momb'ers of ■: all.-orders;and holders of medals." ' Orders, decorations, 1 and medals are to be worn on "State occasions, officials occasions, and public occasions." These occasions are defined as follow: State of Parlia-,-ment, swearing-in of a new GovernorGeneral, levees, at evening functions at Government House,, and at functions which the Governor : General is known to be attending officially. ~'. .pfficial.Occasions.—Where invitations have, been issued by the Prime Minio,ter,.a Minister, of the Crown, or-the : .Chief Justice.; : . ~ ■ .Public Occasions.—Where invitations 'have been issuod by the Commandant of. the .New Zealand Forces, the Senior officer in New Zealand waters, tlie. officer commanding a military dis'and the Mayor of a city or •municipality,... ~..-' Lady members of the Order of the British Empire are informed that at evening, functions they will wear their decorations with evening dress, and may wear them wMi day dress on any occasion when such dress is worn. Both in day dress and evening dress ladies will wear fnll-sized insignia. /Miniatures must not, on any account be worn by ladies.
