Tho Feilding meeting,. postponed from the spring, was held in fino weather. There was a,- good attendance; Tho, track was in good:.order. Mr. Angus Keith/ got tho fields • itjray smartly, dispatches throughout being excellent. -. .Owing to tho postponements'tho scratching pen ivaß freely used.. . ■fho Waituna. Hack Hurdles field was ipluccd from twenty to seven. Zola wna a /slightly better iavoutite than Wliiro. Tho began auicUly.and' jumping. cleverly had his opponents' doing their best throughout, first Line and Zola wcro always, well up,- but could not get Whiro, who won by two lengths from the consistent Zola, with First' Line three lengths away, liio and Lady Amai wera next.

Lady General, Galore, Gipsy Gem, end Hupana, were taken out of. the. .Flying. Stakes, leaving in six runners. Backera went solidly for Nystaxl.Vwho carried about a third of tho total ■ money invested in the race. He got slightly the' best of tho start, and led" Bawakoro and Sliicla at half-way. At tho bend Starenijo moved up on the. outside. :Turning: into tho homo stretch, Nystad, Hawakore, and Star«ngo wero on lovel terms. In the run to tho post Starengo got in front, • and ■won by half a., length, , Rawakore was about the. Bame-distance: away, with Royal Chef fourth,

Tho Feilding Stakes brought out a good sized Hold of eight. Surveyor (who stripped well) finished up Eccond. favourite to Croesus. The' former jumped out •well, and when thoy :had' settled. down •was. showing the ■■'way to Pennon and 6ilver Link. .. These three were prominent throughout. Surveyor came /.into -the straight with ' a commanding lead; and, finishing: -up his task full of running, won fairly easily by'Wo "lengths. Silver Link out Pennon out of second money in the last fow strides. Kipling :beat Croesus for fourth .place. ..; Only ten of the twenty:orie acceptors for the Apiti : Hack Handicap wfero' paraded. Tigritiya,-who raced well hut unluckily at Ellerslie, was favourite. Sonnino and Winning Shot were prominent for a furlong. whero they were showing the way to Tigritiya. Winning Shot was done with at/the bend, .- where Tigritiya ran into ,second place.
