IMPERIAL WAR GRAVES
MEETING OF THE COMMISSION. (Eec. January 9, 8.10 p.m.) London, January 8. At a. meeting of the Imperial War Graves Commission, at which Mr. Long presided, all the British overseas representatives were present. The chairman stated that all the overseas Governments had , unreservedly agreed to bear their shares, whatever the expense, involved, in worthily honouring the memory of the dead. The Commission is therefore free to discharge its task in ungrudging' and unniggardljj spirit. The Commission- adopted a recommendation that the most suitable method of honouring those whose graves could not be found or those graves which could not be identified, would be to place a tablet, appropriaTely inscribed, in the cemetery near the spot where the men were believed to have been killed. It is estimated that at least one thousand cemeteries will bo involved in the scheme. The Commission has decided to ask the Indian Government to formulate proposals for the establishment of an agency in India for the care of British war graves there.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-Reu-ter.
