BRITAIN'S LATEST WAR SUBMARINE

CARRIES 12-INCH GUNS. New York, December 27. • United States naval officers who were attached to the American Fleet have just arrived from the North Sea. On being interviewed they declared that England had built a new type of large submarine carrying; 12-inch guns mounted forward. The submarine was used for bombarding Heligoland on several occasions. Tho recoil from the gun is so heavy that the submarine ie forced six feet below tho wafer.

Tho officers added that England had developed a submarine with 25-knots surface speed, steam-driven, and armed with 4-inch guns.
