ANOTHER DEMONSTRATION . AGITATION AGAINST DR. GILRUTH Brisbane, December 28. A demonstration, consisting of eleven hundred Darwin citizens, representing all sections of the community, and headed by a band, marched to Government House, where several speakers denouncedthe present autocratic system of govern- ' nient, including the Administrative, Judicial, and Medical Departments. The meeting resolved to implore Mr' Watt, Actiiig-Priino Minister, in the interests of life and property, to recall Dr. Gilruth, whoso autocratic administration, they said, is fast reaching u very grave crisis; also for the establishment of ft good Government, having the confidence of the residents, and for the development of the Territory. It was also decided to request the institution of a Proyiiwiul Council of five members, to be elected annually, with.a recognised Secretary representing the Federal Government— Press Assn.
DR. GILRUTH'S TERM OF OFFICE STATEMENT BY FEDERAL MINISTER, • Melbourne, December 28. The Hon. P. M. Glynn, Minister in charge .of the Territory, replying to a telegram from tho Darwin demonstrators, 6tated.that Dr. Gilmth's term of otnee would practically expire with the declaration of peace. ' Tho Ministry was considering the establishment of an Advisory Council representative of the whole Territory.—Press Aesn.
