"Thatjthis meeting of frozen and canned meat e.Tpnrtors of Australia considers it of the utmostVimportancu that any restrictions at present placed .upon the manufacture of margarine for export from Australia should be rescinded in onlo? to enable tho manufacturers of margarine for export from the Commonwealth to compete with other producing centres.". • . . ■
• In this connection' it was put forward by representatives of margarine manufacturers that the restrictions of the Commonwealth precluded colouring matters .being added to margarine, Although that colouring matter yna the identical material used in the colouring of butter. It was pointed out further that' Denmark, one of the biggeat producers of butter in Europe, was also the biggest producer of margarine, and was permitted, to colour its margarine./ in the same way as its butter; and it was claimed to be unfair to preclude the selling of Australian margarine in the United Kingdom coloured in the identi. cal way that Danish margarine was coloured."
