THE ANNUAL MEETING. Mr. I\ J. Earle prosidod at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Instituto of Journalists hold 'yesterday afternoon. The election officers resulted as follows President, Mr.'W. Guerin; secretary, Mr. J. B. Smith; treasurer, Mr. W. Freeman; auditor, Mr. H. Hardcastle. The old council was re-elected, with the addition of Mr. E. H. Hooper ("Agricultural Journal"). It was resolved: "(1) That the instituto place on record its opinion that when delegations representative of the journalistic profession are selected, working members should be consulted, with the object of securing more direct representation of the profession than has hitherto been the case. (2) That representations be made to the Imperial authorities through the British Institute of Journalists. to tlio New Zealand authorities, and in view of the forthcoming World's Press Conference in Sydney to the Australian authorities, witli a view to having tliiß principle put into effect. (3) That copies uf this resolution be forwarded to the journalists' unions in Now Zealand with u request for their endorsement."
