AFLOAT AGAIN
THE DORSET TOWED OFF HOPE SHOAL.
ifter boiiiß stranded for six days the F. and S. liner Dorset, which went aground on Hope Shoal, off Ward Island, at 8.15 a.m. on Tuesday last while enterins Wellington .Harbour, was refloated nt 1.15 o'clock yesterday morning. Lightering operations continued throughout Sunday. The tug Terawhili and Pelican, assisted by an exceptionally high tide, began to move the ship shortly before 1 o'clock, and about a quarter of an hour later she was oil her way to town •in charge of Captain Dawson, harbourmaster, who directed operations. olie was delayed for two hours owing to a heavy fog, and did not berth until 5 a.m. She was refloated an hour before high tide. Two mushroom anchors were also used to draw the vessel. About a quarter of the Dorset s cargo had been discharged by the watersidera. The men were paid salvage pay—ss. 2d. per hour—with special rates on Sunday. The Government .Surveyor of Ships (Mr. Ililev) is making an examination of the Dorset, and although it had yesterday not been-completed, it is understood that the liner escaped without any d-image. , .
