REPORTS Gf HOSPITALS AND CONVALESCENT HOMES.
The figures .showing the state of the temporary hospitals fur the twenty-four hours ended at noon yesterday disclose 1 that there were four discharges. Discharges from convalescent homes numbered four. There was one death nt the General Hospital. The figures for the General Hospital yesterday were as under:— Admissions 1 Remaining in hospital 43 Discharged 4 Death' 1 Following are details of the number of beds vacant in the convalescent home 3.— Oriental Bay 11 Salvation Array Training College 11 Wellington South '. 18 St. Anne's (Newtown) — Position in Camps. Yesterday there were only 72 men suffering from influenza in the three camus in the Wellington military district. Of this number 10 were serious cases. No deaths were reported. The health report was as follows:— Awapuni. Paraded sick 6 Remaining in hospital - 4 Serious cases 0 Deaths ....: 0 Featherston. Paraded sick 3 Admitted to hospital .'. 0 Remaining in hospital 55 Serious cases :.....,..... 10 Deaths 0 Trentham. Paraded sick 2 Admitted to hospital 0 Remaining in hospital 49 Serious cases 0 Deaths « Central Headquarters, The Mayor stated yesterday that there was nothing fresh to report at the Town Hall in connection with the epidemic.
Finance Committee. A meeting of the Epidemic Finance Committee was held in the Mayor's room at Central Headquarters yesterday. The !!layor (Air. J. P. Luke, AI.P.) presided. Such accounts .as were available were submitted to the meeting, but it wos reported that others vnre still coming in, and that exchange of communications regarding the liabilities of the organisation was not yet completed. ' At the Alayor's suggestion a committee, consisting of the City Treasurer (who has been acting as treasurer of the fund), Alessrs! Davidson,' Boss, Martin, nnd Drake, was appointed to go through all accounts, to come to a settlement in cases where negotiation was necessary, and to report later on to the finance Committee. Our correspondent telegraphs that two deaths, from influenza occurred at Alas-' terton yesterday, both being Europeans.
SOLDIERS' DEATHS Advice has been received that 39,652 Private Howard Franklin Chetham, a discharged' soldier, died at Whangarci Hospital on November 1 from influenza. Deceased was 29 years of age, and single, his next-of-kin >being his brother, Mr. W. H. Chetham, Onoralii, Whangarei. 10/3085 Arthur W. H. Smith, .a discharged soldier, died at the Auxiliary Hospital, Gore, on November 30, from influenza. Deceased was 28 years of a«re, and single, his next-of-kin being- his father, Mr.. G. H. Smith. Raknia. 0/1610 Private Charles P. P. Clarke, a discharged soldier, died at the Auckland Technical School' Temporary Hospital, from pneumonia, on November 23. Deceased was 23 years of age, and single, his next-of-kin being his brother/Mr. D. J. Clarke, Horotiu. Waikato. 6/1261 William Eobert Chinn, a discharged soldier, died at Rangiora on November 20. He was 25 years of age, and single, his next-of-kin being his father, Mr. J. ,Chinn, Croydon, London. 13/468 Lnnc&Corporal Murdoch J. Sutherland, a discharged soldier, died at his residence at Te Fahu, near Ngarunwahia, on November 20. Deceased was 41 years of age, and married. 16/743 Horace Barnett Morshead, discharged soldier, died at the New Plymouth Hospital on December 6. Deceased was 28 years o£ age. and. single, his next-of-kin being Mrs. Sophia Morehen tl, Hawera.. 43,704 Trooper Denis Ryan, a returned discharged soldier, died at the Hawera Hospital on November 14, from the effects of influenza. Deceased was a married man. 30 years of aee, and his next-of-kin is his wifo, Mrs. K. E. Ryan, Hawera. ' 5/119 Driver William Davidson, a discharged soldier, died at Featherston Military Camp Hospital, on Tuesday, from c'erobro-spinal meningitis, complicated by abdominal tumour. Deceased's nexfr-of-kin is Mrs. -M. Davidson, iSt. Kilda, Dunedin. 91,255 Private Alfred T. Hunter, B Company, Forty-ninth Reinforcements, was" found dead in the Tauherenikau Hotel on December'll. Deceased was 39 years of age. Hb uaxvof-kin is Mrs. M. Hunter, Half. Moffu Bay, Stewart Island.
