RESULT OP TORRENTIAL RAINS. By Telegraph—Press' Association. , - Taihape, December 10. Torrentinl rains are falling along the Main Trunk line. North of Taihape they brought down a slip on the railway, between Jigarukeku and Hihitihi, into wliiek a long empty truck , train ran. Tic cowcatcher was struck by a tree trunk, derailing the engine and some trucks. The Auckland express was delayed for several hours. A gang of men with picks were promptly .ou the scene, and, after working all night, they had the line cleared by 9 o'clock this morning, which enabled all train services to be run as usual. During the last twenty-four hours the weather experienced has been mast severe and unseasonable in character—torrential rains falling in Taihape district and heavy sno\y in the higher altitudes in the Waimarino district. , /
