NGARU IS NOT SOLD. • A few daj's ago a. question about the reported sale of the Island of Ngaru, on which there are rich phosphate deposits, to the London Trading Company wits asked in the House of ftepresentiitivcs. Dr. Newman quoted as his uutliority for the statement a news cablegram from London. The Prime Minister said' at the time that ho did not believe the report for the rpaHin that Nyuru Island was German territory in British occupation, and could not be sold either by the British or the Germans until pea'ce was signed. Last night .Mr,, Massey announced in the House that he had been advised by cable that the island lwd not been sold. Some enemy shares in the Pacific Phosphate Co. had been sold for the sura of £j~5,Q00. The company had rights over Ngaru and other islands.
