MEDICALLY UNFIT
Sir,—lf Mrs. Kincton-Parkes said a,ll unfits were a result of alcohol, she certainlv overstepped the mark. Being a visitor to Now Zealand, and interested in matters of this kind, 1 would' like to say that 75 per cent, of venereal cases are contracted tfvhile under the influence of alcohol. Dr. Sir T. P. AndorsonStuart, of Sydney, says that lie examined 199 men in one day from one military camp, and they were all .ufferini; misery as of alcohol. Tn tho United States of America the first draft of 1,300,000 called, up for medical examination, over SO per cent, wore rejected physically unfil, but from the Slate of Kansas' quota only 10 per cent, were rejected. Rut as Kansas has had Prohibition for 37 years, two generations, physical fitness under such conditions must be assured. Governor Capner of the samo State says that among 25,0(10 .men in camp for three months thero was not one ease of Omnkenne-s nor breach of discipline, truly n good record.
