"SAME OLD APATHY"
IN MATTERS OF EDUCATION. At yesterday's meeting of the WellingI ton Education. Board the chairman (Mr. i Ihomas Forsyth) said that members I would probably have noticed that, after j all the talk and promises, the vote for education made by Parliament was very , littlo more than usual, and no provision had been made for the promised in- . creases in the salaries of teachers. That would be provided for', he understood, on the Supplementary Estimates. ■ There ■was evidently the same old apathy re.specting education, and that despite the near approach of a general election They must as a-board take some action in the 'matter ir. tho direction of getting the definite views of candidates recorded, fo that they could have some claim on their votes when the grant for educational purposes came before the ' House.
