THE LATE NIGHT
SUSPENSION SUGGESTED,
"I received a few days ago a letter 'from the secretary of the Wellington wrocers' Union dealing with the special (Tifficullies of thd grocers' assistants, owing to the fact that many people who have either just recovered from influenza or are in daily contact with it go to the shops to make purchases,'" said the Minister of Public Health yesterday. "The union suggested that no persons should be allowed to enter tho shops, and especially grocers' shops, while in an infectious condition. This suggestion was referred to the Chief Health Officer, who has reported that it would be impossible to impose any restriction of this kind. Ho is of opinion, however, that Friday night work ought to be suspended during the o.pidemic. "The Government does'not desire to take action by wav of compulsion on this point, but I would - be exceedingly pleased if the grocery trade would so .arrange matters that there would be no late night until the epidemic, has completely subsided."
