DEATH FROM POISON
An inquest was hold vestcrday afternoon by Mr. F. V. Frazor, S.M., into the cause of the death of Lewis Lamb, aged 3i, a seaman on the s.s. Kitfawa, who died on board that vessel in AVellington Harbour on Tuesday morning. According to the evidence, Lamb was four days ashore at Dunedin, and when brought on board prior to the sailing, of the vessel he was in a very bad condition through drink. He,was suffering a recovery on the voyage to Wellington, and was very unnerved. When in Wellington Harbour about 11 a.m. on Tuesday he was seen on deck jerking his arms and legs spasmodically, and died in a few minutes. On his person was found a packet containing poison. Amongst his effect? was found another packet. Dr. Kendall expressed the opinion that death was due to poisoning, and the Coroner returned a verdict that /dentli was clue to an overdose of poison, self-administered while sulionng from alcoholism, but there was no evidence to show whether the poison was taken by inadvertence or with suicidal intent.
