POLKS AND MAINTENANCE CASES.

Mr. F. V. Frazer,' S.M., presided at the Magistrate's . Court yesterday, and dealt- with tho police and maintenance cases.

For insobriety Edward Alfred Onward Kreefe, against'whom there was one previous conviction, was fined 55., in default twenty-four hour*' imprisonment. Walter Richard . Leary and John James Priest were convicted and discharged for drunkenness, anl were each fined .£2, in default seven days' imprisonment, for committing breaches of their prohibition orders. One first offender, who aid not appear, had his bail of Ids. forfeited. George Pinnock was remanded until to'-, day on a charge of stealing two woollen vests. Mr.- H. F. O'Lcary appeared for the accused, and asked for bail, which, was granted ill .£25, and one surety of JC2S.

Charles Crook, who was charged" with failing to. maintain his illegitimate child nt Gisborne, was remanded to appear in the jiortheru town on November

16. On tho application of Mr. IT. F. O'Lcary a remand until to-day, was granted in the case- of James Holder, who was charged 'with, the theft of a shirt valued at 8s„ the property of the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Co. Fanny Mary Allison M'Konzie, who had pleaded guilty to adopting on infant without a license, nnd was remanded for sentence until a more serious chnrge was dealt with in the Supremo Court, was called. Tho Magistrate duplicated tho sentence passed upon her in tho Supreme Court..

For using obscene language in Rugby Streot, William John Ramey was fined 405., in. .default seven' days' imprisonment, and for being found drunk lie was convicted and discharged.

MAINTENANCE, CASES. Norman Alister Stewart was ordered to pay 10s. per week towards the maintenuncttof his iUiegitimWechild, o.nd was also ordered, to pay ,£25, back maintenance.

Mary A. Burns was granted a separation order from her husband David Bums, and was allo.ved one guinea costs.
