It is understood that nn invitation to attend an Imperial Conference to be held in connection with the peace negotiations has reached the Prime '-Minister of New Zealand. There is, no doubt that Mr. Massey *will accept' this invitation, but the date of his departure has yet to be announced. It has been generally assumed that the. Prime Minister will'be , accompanied again by (he Minister of Finance (Sir Joseph WaTd). but no information is available on. this point. It was rumoured yesterday that _ Mr. Massey would leave for London within the next day or two. This is not the case. Tlw next Vancouver stenmcr w timed to leave for Vancouver on Tuesday next, and Mr. Mnissey does not intend to proceed by this steamer. Some importnnt work hn.s to be done by Parliament, and Mr. Massoy is not: likely to leave this work unfinished. It is likely, however, that the session will be borugnt to a close sooner than has been generally expected. ■
