FIRE AT HASTINGS

A ,firo early this morning completely gutted a two-story building in Heretau'liga Street, owned by Knight Bros.,'Dannevirke, and occupied by Hyde, tobacconist, and Hindo, confectioner, mid upstairs by Wolf, tailor. It was an old wooden structure, and burnt liko tinder. In a few minutes tho next building, belonging to the same owner, and occupied by Armstrong, jeweller, and the Wilson Shoo Company, was also ablaze. Tho brigade mado a partial save of the latter building, but the stock was badly damaged by smoke and water. The insurances so. far avnilablo are:— On Hyde's stock, ,£250 in tho Phoonix Office, ,£250 in the Atlas, and £M jii the Northern Union; Armstrong, ,£4OO in the South British.
