FATHER AND DAUGHTER DROWNED.
By Telegritph—Press Association.' Christchurch, (October 29. At Kaiapoi yesterday afternoon Harrjy Harper, aged 45, and his daughtor E lee , agwl 13, were drowned near bridge. Harper, ins wife, and fi\e children, and another man were filing on tho Wninmkariri River when the torn knocked Eileen overboard. ,Ihe father, who was a strong swimmer, ]«™Ped nfl f r her. and eot hold of her, but both sank. Harper was employed at the Kaiapoi Woollen Mills.
FATAL SHOOTING ACCIDENT.

A shooting accident occurred, on Sunday at Gladstone whereby a boy named Thomas Jackson lost his life. Deceased and another liy.l were out shooting, and \ stood a gun alongside a fence. A dog knocked the gun over, and the charge entered'the boy's leg. He wos removed to the hospital, but died there last night.
