MAGISTRATE'S COURT
POLICE AND CIVIL CASES. Mr. F. V. Frozer, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. A young woman named Hetty Evnn9 was convicted and discharged for helpless drunkenness, and was fined £1, in default soventy-two hours' imprisonment, for committing a breach of a prohibition order. Joseph Harris, a fireman, was sent to prison for fourteen days on a charge of having used obscene language in Lambton Quay. Joseph Flanagan admitted committing; a breach of his prohibition order, ami also being found drunk. Aa ho was an old ofl'cnder he was committed to tho Hoto Roa Inebriates' Homo for a period of twelve months. For drunkenness nine first offenders were leniently dealt with. ■ CIVIL CASES. Mr.'W. G. Eiddell, S.M., dealt with the civil cases, ond gave judgment for plaintiff by default in the following cases:—A. Hatrick and Co., Ltd., v. F. H. Washbimrno and Bernard Byrn, ,£l3 ISs. (id., costs'.£l 13=. Cd.; Motor Import Co. v. Eussell and Co., £K 2s. 2d., costs £3 65.; James U. Gavin v. Angus G. Foster, £7 175., costs 235. .Gd.; The Lawrence and Hanson Electrical Co., Ltd., v. F. Cottingham, JMS 7s. Id., costs i' 3 ss. Cd. Judgment summons cases were dealt with os follow:—II. T. A very was ordered to pay the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. £2 lls. 2d. by November 7, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment; and tho same defendant was ordered to pay Oscar Andrews £1 lGs. Gd. by 14, or undergo seven days' imprisonment. Albert James Kin? Was ordered to givo up possession of a. tenement by November 14, and to pay the plaintiff, John K. Miles. £2 18s. lOd. and costs lls. l
