CHRIST'S SECOND COMING

..'• A meeting of the Association ,for the Propagation of the Truth oi our .Lord's Second Coming was held in the. schoolroom of the Baptist Church, T-Vivian Street, on Tuesday, evening. There-was a large, attendance. The Rev. .Mr.-Hul-son presided. The lecturer of the evening was 'the Hev. W. H. ■Hinton,- , ';bf Auckland, who took as his subject ,"Two. Doubles Line.? of Prophecy."; .'. Starting! with the .01(1 Testament, Mr. Hintoii; traced the twofold promise of the .restoration of the spiritual blessing'of communion with God and the material Messing of pence and prosperity lost by man ;on the coming of sin into the world, the "one by a Saviour, the other by a King. In the New Testament the same double lines appeared. Christ fulfilled the first by His death on'the Cross,' but the Jews rejected Kim as King,-so the second line had not yet been fulfilled. The fulfilment of this promise would take, place on ; His second coining, when He would occupy the threefold position of Lord of Hie Church, Messiah of ihe Jews and Kings of the wholo world. The speaker believed that our Empire should be ruled by the people and for. the people, but democracy would never, save.the world. I^was not an enlargement of the franchise nor the removal of certain evils from our midst —eminently desirable as this might be—, that 'was to- effect tho salvation of- the world. .Not until God was once more recognised-as King in a glorious theocracy would we Teacli the golden nge.
