London, October 22. The Victoria Cross has been awarded to Sergeant Samuel Forsyth, New Zealand Engineers. He showed conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty in an attack, bearing its objective, Sergeant Forsyth'.s company tame under heavy niacliine-gun lire, anil through;his dashing leadership and ' total disregard of danger three machine-gun positions were rushed and their crews 'taken prisoner before they could inflict many casualties. Sergeant Forsyth then organised the tank's crew and several of his men into sections aud led them to a position where the enemy machiiie-gi'i.ners could be outflanked. lie was always under fire, but brought about the retirement of Ihe machine-guns and enabled the British advance to continue.
