SYDNEY'S WELCOME TO ORIGINAL ANZACS
SPECTACULAR RECEPTION. (Rec. October 17, 10,30 p.m.) Sydney, October 17. A spectacular civ.ic reception was given to a large number of the original Anzacs and other returned troops. The function produced one of'the most onthnsiastic demonstrations Sydney has seen during the war period. Floating but-still unpublished rumours of the Kaiser's abdication _ and Germany's complete backdown intensified the demonstration. Immense crowds lined the whole route. The Lord Mayor's carriage, drawn by a specially-selected gun-team, and containing the Lord Mayor and the representatives of the Federal and State Governments, led the long procession of flower-decked, flower-pelted troops. A special feature wag a display of some guns that had been captured by the Australian Light Horse in Palestine. Since the publication of. the latest reported development in Germany the city is buzzing with expectant excitement.— Prose Assn. 9
