SWIMMING

The annual meeting of the Ladies' lloyal Life-saving unci Swimming Club mis held in the Boys' Institute on Tuesday, Mr. G. S. Hill, vice-presi-dent, ocoupyhnr the chair. Tho second annual report and balance-sheet were presented and showed that the club had had a most successful year. Twenty-six life-saving awards had been obtained, as against eight for the previous year. A successful swimming carnival was conducted in March last, with a result that £22 12s. sd. has been handed to the Royal Life-savmg Societv, Wellington Head Centre. Two dunces had- also been held during tho winter mouths, and £4 had been don-, ated to tho Paekakarjki Surf Club towards its building expenses, and £2 to tho fund of tho Wellington Associated Swimmers. Tho balauce-sheet showed that tho receipts for tho. year were £44 195., tho expenditure £42 3s. Td., leaving a credit balance to carry forward of £2 16s. 6d. Aiken; committee, Mrs. Farnall, Misses E. Harper. N. Edmanson M. Bacon; E. Buckmaster; handicaiiper, Mr. A. A. Somerville (re-elect-ed) • starter. Mr. A. M. Farnall; assistant starter, Mrs. A. Thomson; timekeeper, Miss E. Harper: auditor, Mr. \V. 0. Collier (re-elected); judge, Mr W. C. Collier; representatives to 11.L.5.5., Mesdames Bosher and Thomson • representative to W.A.S.A., Mr. W. C. Collier. It was decided to hold a small carnival in December as an opening for the season, the arrangements to bo left iu the hands of tho committee.
