TOWN PLANNING
A town-planning- lecture was delivered on Monday evening, by Mr. G. Carwell Cook, vice-prosidont of the Greater Wellington Town-planning and M.E. Association, in the Mothodist Schoolroom, Hataitai. .Mr. A. Leigh Hunt presided. The lecturer'dealt specially with' the,sentimental aspects', of townpointing out the great effect of environment upon the character of the race. He urged the' , need for moro and better playgrounds for the. children and the necessity for the abolition of the many' slums .which exist in Now Zealand cities. Every. citizen should make it a duty to endeavour to remedy existing evils,so that a .decent'house with reasonable surroundings should he available to all, no matter what the position in life. .'The leniiiro was interspersed with numerous lantern slides and appropriate quotations from great men. .
