SUNDAY CONCERT
NATIVES' ASSOCIATION BAND. An excellent Sunday concert was given in His Majesty's Theatre last night by the Natives' Association Ifaiul, which liad the support of two loca] inslrunientulisbs and a. vocalist. The band, which was conducted by Lieutenant T. Herd, played as usual with sound technique and a nice regard lor the musical sense of its chosnn ] compositions. Its first number was \ the breezy American march, '.'Flag Day' , (Mackie-Beyer). Then, by special request, the band played its j contest _ selection from "William Tell" 1 (lio.ssi?ii). This was a mo-t enjoyable J number, and Lieutenant Herd and his I band members were heartily applauded. ] The other band numbers woro Hume's ! tuneful intermezzo, "Lilies," and the ' vigorous quidc-step, "Thu Royal Kingj.dom" (Nick Brown). Mr.. AVill Henj der, an old favourite with AVelling- : ton people, contributed a xylophone . &olq, "La Jvirene" (James) and a liar- ] I.'ophone solo, "Missouri" '([Brown). He handled' his instruments with his l'sual • skill and grace. The concert was enjoyed by a fairly large audience.
