LADIES' BATH AT TE ARO

A BIG IMPROVEMENT. During tho last month a big.improvement has boen effected in tho ladies' portion of To Aro Baths. That part of tho baths formerly occupied by tho concroto tank (for juveniles) has 'been completely boarded over, and tho tank itself has been filled with gravel. The new platform forms tho floor of four large dressing rooms, capablo of ac-, oommodating about a hundred children at'a pinch, and a sunning area in front about lift, in breadth, extending to a lino level with the outer wall of the concrete tank. As the water is fairly deep closo in, means haver been taken to mako a gradually shallowing beach by filling in with clean fine .gravel. Already some fifty yards of this gravel have'been emptied into tho baths, and it is calculated that another hundred yards will provide water .not more than 3ft. in depth at high water closo into tho now platform, whilst the shallowing process is extended as far out as!the line of tho first rope. A now flight cf v : ide' steps leads into the water from the centre'of the new platform. .The work, which should he • completed by tho end of the, month, constitutes a substantial improvement in accommodation and bathing conditions, in the ladies' baths.
