VOLUNTARY MOTOR CORPS
The Mayor (Mr. J. P. « Messrs. W Prvor, L. R. Partridge. H. Llojtl, and H. J. Stott (secretary) were present at a meeting of the Voluntary Moto, Corps, held in the Mayors room yesterday. ~ ~ , • The secretary, was directed to % form all those owners of cars who.are members of the corps who had not turned out on the last occasions that m not complying witli the' request it made the work very difficult to the executive, which was serving a public pmpow, and to request them to. carry out tlie provisions of the rules of the corps in either turning out or sending a.sub--Btfttter was road from Mr. George Shirtoliffe. asking if the corps would lie prepared to further the work h\ combining and endeavouring to provide ciirs to\ take out concert parties to Trcntham. The committee could not see their wav clear to comply with tho request/as the corps was not formed for any other purpose than meeting returned soldiers on their return to New Zealand. , , It was suggested that the secretary ask the Defence Department if it would liu possible to enclose a printed statement with the book that is supplied to the returning men, stating that tree motor-cars are supplied by voluntary motor corps to take.them to their destinations when landing. There are still ten or twelve vacancies in the corps, and the secretary would he glad to receive further.applications at his office 12 Panama Street.
