The Acting-Prime Minister (Sfr James Allen) is expected to arrive from the south this morning. He will leave for Auckland to-morrow or on Friday.

The Hon. W. D. Mac Donald. Minister of Mines, has gone north, ana will be in Auckland on Saturday.

The Hon. D. H. Guthrie is expected to return to Wellington from the Taranakt district to-morrow.

Tho Hon. T. M. Wilford is paying a visit to Helensville, and will return to Wellington at the week-end.

The Hon. A. M. Myers will leave for Auckland to-morrow or on Friday.

Lieutenant Douglas Russell (a Eon of the Hon. G. W. Russell), who was wounded on the Somme, returned to Wellington yesterday. Another fon of the Minister, Corporal George Russell, who was on a hospital ship, has been declared medically unfit for turther service.

Cabled information has been received to the effect that Second-Lieutenant Hugo Alexander Mackenzie (Rhodes Scholar), who has been twice wounded in France, and' who has been in hospital since September 1 suffering from a gunshot wound in the leg, is making satisfactory prosress. A Press cablegram from London states that General Maurice, formerly Director of Military Operations at the War Office, and latterly war critic on the "Daily Chronicle," has resigned his post on that journal and joined the staff, of the "Daily News" in the same capacity. A Press Association message from London states that Lieutenant Leslie Ring, London Regiment, lately of Greymmith, New Zealand, has been killed in action.

Mr. Louis Schatz, who arrived frojn Sydney on Monday, is going through to America.
