N.Z. ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS
ANNUAL EXHIBITION. Another busy day fell to the lot of the officials at the Art Gallery yesterday. Many of the fortunate holders of tlie winning numbers in the members' art union took the opportunity of selecting works, and the red seal of ownership now marks numerous canvases and water-colour sketches. So far, sales to the value of about £350 have been recorded, and it is apparent from the interest taken in this year's show that they will be far and away above those former exhibitions of the kind. Apart fram the works by New Zealand artists, which the Academy Council have carefully selected,- and whioh emphasise the fact that ■. our leading artists are capable of holding their own with the work of any country, tho fine.collocHon of oils nnd water colours from the Royal Art Society of New South Wales is creating a great deal of interest. A number of• their works have already been sold, and there is no doubt that ere the exhibition closes a great many of these delightful Australian works will find their way to Wellington homes.
To-day the Art Gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. nnd.7 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. Tickets in tho public art union are on sale at the entrance, and those electing to become members of the Academy receive ten Is. tickets in .addition to the privilege of free admission at any time.
