MANAWATU SHOW
The clouds of war which have hung so menacingly overheaa for over four years at. last show signs of a break, bringing with it the possibility of{ a fairly early end to the struggle. This end is looked forward to anxiously by all sections, including the show authorities, but they are carrying oii. all tlif same—under sonie difficulties.at times perhaps—but still keeping things going in a wonderfully able manner.. .They could not do this without the loyal support of exhibitors and others who tiavo stood to them 'well. The forthcoming Palmerston show,, which is dated for October.3o and 31,-is to" ! be quite, up to the mark of its. predecessors. The large amount of prize money allocated for tho jumping events; has evoked, widespread interest, indicating a big field, with keen competition. This should mean some interesting displays. '• Another very attractive display should be the fleece wool, which has moved up into , a real live section. Hemp also claims a place in the schedule,, with good prizes attached. Entries in the art, technical, and public school -work, home industry, photography, and art neediework classes close on Monday. All other entries close on October 12. Prize schedules may be had on appli'Mtion to the secretary, box 85, Palmerston North. Owing to the dog enthusiasts being scattered, there will not be any dog show this year, but it is- hoped to again have it going year.
