Some little business is being done in Algerians, and a line of Danish in second hands was sold at ss. 6d. f.o.b. Thero have been' largo shipments of oat-sheaf chaff lately to Wanganui and Napier, .and these have relieved stocks in store. There is still good inquiry for prime bright 'chaff, which is worth £7-os.- to £7 :10s. per ton at country stations, but : it is difficult to find an outlet for mddium and'inferior qualities, which Iformed the great bulk of the "supplies this year. ' The potato market is still further improved, and although business can only be done in smaller lines than earlier iiv the season, sales can be made in the northern market. Shipping is still the main difficulty. There are not a great many potatoes offering by growers, and buyers are now offering £8 10s. and £9 per ton at country stations. The market for peas is ■ dull,, consequent upon' there being 'no shipping space available, and prices have eased in consequence. Bacon and hams have advanced .one penny per lb.,' wholesale prices being: Sides, Is. 3d.; rolls and hams, Is. 4d. per lb'.
