V VND T. OFFICERS DEMAND INCREASED SALARIES.

Whangarei, October 3. The Whangarei branch of the P. and T. Department employees met last night, forty being present, when the following motion was - earnedinat this branch deplores the attitude of the Government in not dealing with the vital question cSf the cost of living, and demands to bo placed' 011 the same basis re tho war bonus as the railwaymen, as from' April, 1918; .also, a 20 per cent, increase on nil salaries up to £220; that the time is ripo for the association to throw off the yoke of .the Commissioners, and demand freedom of the Bubject."
