PHILOSOPHICAL SOCIETY
ASTRONOMICAL SECTION. The annual meeting of the Astronomical Section of the Philosophical Society was held last evening iu the Museum. Professor D. M. Sommerrille presided, and, there was a good attendance of members. The annual report, which was lead and adopted, stated that there were 4? members on the roll, and that the casli balance on September 30 was £1 14s. The election of officers resulted an follows:—Hon. member,' Miss Mary Proctor; chairman, Mr. A. C. Gift'onl, A'.F.11.A.5.; vicerchairmiui, Professor Sommervifie and Mr. W. La Trobe; committee, Messrs. B.- Parry, C. P. Powles, H. Clark, C. Muuro-Hector, G; 3. Hooper, — Thompson; director and curator of instalments, Mr. C. E. Adams; hon. treasurer, Mr.' C. 15. Adams; hon. secretary, Mr. C. G. G. Berry. Mr. C. AV. Adams read's paper entitled "A <Noyel Star Atlas," and Mr. .EldoiK Best read a paper on "Maori Star" Lore."
