Only two bankruptcies have been recorded in the Wairarapa for the last Bine months. This is a record for the district. Five bankruptcies were registered for the first nine months of last year. Olf 142 C 2 reservists examined in Masterton Inst week by the Special Medial Board no fewer than 70 were passed as fit to enter the main and C] camps. Sixteen births, nine marriages, and eight deaths were registered in Masterton during the month of September. In spite of the high cost of timber, building operations are very activo in Masterton. Building permits to Alio value of £5479 we're issued in Masterton last moftih. . ' ' _ ■ _ It is stated that a motor service ia shortly to ho established between Masterton and Alfredton, There aro at present 850 subscribers to the Masterton telephone exchange. 'The rainfall registered in Masterton for the month of September was 3.77 inches, compared with 2.21 inches for tho same month last year.
